was fortunate enough to have grandparents who retired on a 52’ California Newporter in La Conner, Washington, so I have been sailing as far back as I can remember. I sailed here in Washington through my school years. In 2001, I began working for the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) and started teaching expedition sailing on 22’ Drascombe Longboats in the Sea of Cortez, Mexico and on 34’ Catalinas in Desolation Sound, British Columbia. In 2006, I earned my Captain’s license, and then I took the American Sailing Association instructor course and began working with the Seattle Sailing Club. I have a strong passion for sailing, and I love to share what I have learned with others in a positive and supportive environment. I believe this allows for maximum learning and enjoyment to encourage people who are learning to sail to find a new passion in their lives.
