J/24 Racing
The J/24 is the most popular one-design keelboat class in North America. Thousands of these boats exist worldwide and more than 30 race on a regular basis in the Seattle area. SSC is lucky to have five J/24s. Whether you are racing for the first time or you’ve been doing it competitively for years, the J/24 is likely your first ride in SSC’s Racing Program.

On Summer Monday night, we race J/24s in the Sloop Tavern Yacht Club’s Ballard Cup.
- This is casual, fun-focused racing at its best
- Build experience on the race course
- Try different positions on the boat
- Work together with the same crew cultivating communication, teamwork, and friendships
During the Off-Season, our racing events move to Sunday Afternoons, twice a month, we meet for a “Fun Race”. A pick-up game of sailboat racing with post-race refreshments and debrief.
Once a month we run a Race Clinic hosted by SSC, with a guest clinician. Each clinic will cover a specific racing topic, generally focused on J/24 skills with 2 hours in the classroom, 2 hours on the water.
