Captain Brian Hardy

Brian has been drawn to the water for as long as he can remember. He began sailing at age seven on Long Island, New York, spending summers on dinghies including Optimists, Blue Jays, and Lasers, and building early racing experience through multi-day regattas. That lifelong connection to the water has continued through sailing, rowing, swimming, lifeguarding, wakeboarding, and a wide range of other on-the-water pursuits.

After reconnecting with sailing in the PNW through Seattle Sailing Club in 2023, Brian immersed himself in both cruising and racing, earning ASA 101, 103, 104, 105, 106, 107, 114, and 118 certifications, joining the club’s racing programs, and completing his ASA 201 instructor certification through SSC. He also holds a 25-ton USCG Master’s License with Sailing and Auxiliary Towing endorsements.

Brian brings the same approach to sailing instruction that has shaped his many years as a leader in the technology industry: clear communication, patient coaching, and a genuine commitment to helping people grow. He finds it deeply rewarding to help students build confidence, develop practical skills, and discover the joy of being on the water. Whether students are new to sailing or looking to strengthen their seamanship, Brian is excited to share his experience, knowledge, and enthusiasm to help them succeed.
