Captain Michael Lutomski
Mike is a lifelong sailor and boater who grew up on the Great Lakes of Michigan surrounded by water. He spent his childhood summers with his grandparents, either in or on the water boating and sailing.
As an adult, Mike became an avid racer and cruiser, first in Texas and later in Southern California, where he raced and cruised out of most major ports. While in California, he explored the Channel Islands and the Baja Mexico coastline.
Mike is a licensed USCG 50-ton captain with professional experience in Homer, Alaska, the Mediterranean, and an Atlantic crossing in 2023. He has sailed and chartered boats in the Caribbean, Europe, and Mexico.
Mike is a former Human Spaceflight engineer and executive at NASA, SpaceX, Blue Origin, and a local space startup.
In 2020, Mike moved to Seattle, where he became a sailing instructor in the Seattle and Bellingham areas. He enjoys racing and cruising his own boat in the Puget Sound and Salish Sea. He has completed a Safety at Sea course and is a Certified Wilderness First Responder and is certified to teach ASA 101, 103, 104, and 114.
