Captain Janet Krivacek
Janet has been an enthusiastic water sports person her entire life. Growing up in Wisconsin, swimming, water skiing, and motor boating were given activities for enjoying the Midwest summers. After college, she moved out west living in Alaska, Oregon, and Montana where she enjoyed ocean kayaking, wind surfing, and river rafting and kayaking.
It was not until she retired from the Forest Service in 2014 that sailing came into focus as a means to explore the Puget Sound, San Juan Islands, and beyond. In 2021, Janet raced in the Trans Lake Superior Race from Sault Ste Marie, Michigan to Duluth, Minnesota. In 2022, she helped with a sailboat delivery sailing it from Connecticut to the tip of Florida. And in 2023, she cruised in the British Virgin Islands.
Janet is a former Seattle Sailing Club member and earned her USCG Masters license early in 2023. She is certified to teach ASA 101, 103 and 104.
