Captain Pierre Geurts
Pierre’s sailing journey began in Belgium in the 1980s while racing a classic Moth Europe dinghy and windsurfing. He then advanced to double-handed sailing on 420 dinghies and catamarans. With over a decade of cruising and racing in the Pacific Northwest (including Swiftsure, PNW Offshore race, Round-The-County, and others), Pierre finds the PNW an excellent training ground and playground for sailors of all kinds. He is looking forward to his sixth season as the owner and skipper of a Leopard 38 catamaran, his family’s adventure platform to explore the San Juan Islands and beyond. In addition to sailing, he enjoys mountain biking, perfecting wind-foiling, and exploring this beautiful part of the country.
Pierre is excited to share his passion and knowledge of sailing in a manner that is fun, safe, thoughtful, and practical. His goal is to build his students confidence and sparking a desire to learn more. He is eager to help others enhance their skills and confidence, enabling them to enjoy the best aspects of sailing while preparing for challenges that may arise.
Had a fantastic checkout clinic for Allons-y with Pierre. Can’t say enough good things about his attention to detail and personalized approach…The continued education provided by the top notch staff is a huge factor in keeping us members coming back…not to mention the great equipment.
