Captain John Sheppard
At the age of sixteen, John and a friend pooled their money and bought a beat up Hobie Beach Catamaran. This impulsive purchase ignited a life-long journey for all things sailing and maritime. That beat-up catamaran was only the first of many boats – from racing dinghies to power boats to blue water sailboats. John has sailed hundreds of races, crossed oceans, and cruised many of the world’s most beautiful destinations and waters. After a career in corporate leadership, he turned his professional focus to the passion that began so long ago. John is a working professional merchant mariner with a USCG/STCW Master 500 ITC Gross Ton license, a private captain, a yacht broker, and a power and sail boating educator.
“I’m so grateful to have boating in my life, it led me to my closest friends and greatest adventures. Sharing my passion and knowledge is one of my greatest joys in life.”
John was great, super accomodating, patience and kind. We had a really great experience. The team felt supported by doing the outing and knowing that we invest in things that add value. E.P., ASA 101
